How to rotate a PDF

  1. Drop your PDF in the box above, or click to browse for it.
  2. Tap a page's rotate-left or rotate-right button to turn it. To turn several at once, select them and use Rotate left or Rotate right in the toolbar.
  3. Click Rotate PDF to download the corrected file as rotated.pdf.

Everything runs on your device, so the rotation is instant and your file stays private, even with no internet once the page has loaded.

Turn one page or the whole document

Every page has its own rotate-left and rotate-right buttons, so you decide page by page. Tap once to turn that page 90 degrees, again for 180, and once more for 270. Need several pages, or the whole file, turned the same way? Select the pages you want from the Select menu (or select none to mean all), then tap Rotate left or Rotate right in the toolbar. Pages you leave alone stay untouched, and Undo (Ctrl+Z) steps back any turn you change your mind about.

Which direction each angle turns

Each tap of a page's rotate-right button adds a quarter turn clockwise: one tap is 90 degrees (the usual fix for a page scanned on its side), two taps flip it 180 degrees (upside down), and three taps land on 270 degrees. The rotate-left button turns the same amounts the other way, anti-clockwise. Turns add on top of any rotation a page already has.

Does rotating reduce quality?

No. Rotating only records a new orientation for the page, so it does not re-render or re-compress anything. Text stays sharp and fully selectable, images keep every pixel of their resolution, and the file size barely changes. It is one of the safest edits you can make to a PDF.

Is it safe to rotate PDFs here?

Yes. Many free PDF sites upload your file to their own servers to do the work. This tool does not. Your PDF is opened and re-saved right inside your browser, so it is never uploaded, stored, or seen by anyone else. That makes it a safe choice for contracts, bank statements, medical records, and anything else you would not want sitting on a stranger's server.

What is kept when you rotate

Rotating is a light-touch edit that re-saves the same document instead of rebuilding it, so everything carries over:

  • Every page at full quality: text stays sharp and selectable, images keep their resolution.
  • Clickable links inside your pages.
  • Interactive form fields stay fillable.
  • The bookmark outline and the file's existing details.

Unlike tools that rebuild a document from scratch, such as Organize pages or Extract pages, which flatten form fields and drop the outline, rotating leaves the structure intact. Only the orientation of the pages you chose changes.

Rotating password-protected PDFs

If a PDF opens on your device without asking for a password, it will load and rotate here without any extra steps. If a file is locked and needs a password just to open it, remove that protection first with our Unlock PDF tool, then bring the unlocked copy back here to turn it.

Fix sideways scans and reshape further

Rotating pairs naturally with the rest of the toolkit. Many people straighten a sideways scan here, then reorder the pages, trim the margins with Crop PDF, or shrink the final file with Compress PDF. To join several files first or cut one apart, use Merge PDF and Split PDF.

Can I rotate a PDF on my phone?

Yes. This tool works in any modern browser on iPhone, Android, tablets, and computers, with nothing to install. Add your file, tap the rotate buttons on the pages you want turned, then tap Rotate PDF and the corrected file saves to your device.

Common ways people use Rotate PDF

  • Straightening pages that a scanner saved on their side.
  • Flipping a page that was fed into the scanner upside down.
  • Turning landscape charts or spreadsheets so they read the right way up.
  • Fixing photos of documents taken sideways on a phone.
  • Setting every page the same way after merging files from different sources.

FAQs about Rotate PDF

Do my files get uploaded?

No. Rotation happens in your browser, on your device. The file never leaves your computer or phone, and nothing is stored once you close the tab, so it is safe for contracts, statements, and other private documents.

How do I rotate only some pages?

Every page has its own rotate-left and rotate-right buttons. Tap one to turn just that page 90 degrees, and tap again for 180 or 270. Pages you do not touch stay exactly as they were. To turn several pages at once, select them from the Select menu, then tap Rotate left or Rotate right in the toolbar. With nothing selected, those two buttons turn the whole file.

How do I rotate a lot of pages at once?

Open the Select menu at the top. You can Select all pages, invert your choice, or type a range like 1-3, 8 to pick exact pages. Then tap Rotate left or Rotate right and every selected page turns together. This is the quick way to fix a long scan where many pages came out sideways.

Can I rotate each page a different way?

Yes. Each page is rotated on its own, so you can turn one page left, another right, and leave the rest alone, all in a single save. That is the main advantage over tools that force one angle on the entire file.

Which way does each turn go?

Each page has two buttons. Rotate right turns it a quarter turn clockwise per tap: one tap is 90 degrees, two is 180 (upside down), three is 270. Rotate left turns the same amounts anti-clockwise. The toolbar Rotate left and Rotate right buttons work the same way on every selected page at once.

Will rotating change the quality?

No. Only the orientation is recorded, so pages are never re-rendered or re-compressed. Text stays sharp and selectable, images keep their resolution, and the file size barely changes.

Does it keep links, form fields, and bookmarks?

Yes. Rotating re-saves the same document instead of rebuilding it, so clickable links, fillable form fields, and the bookmark outline all stay intact. Only the page orientation changes.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

If the PDF opens without asking for a password, it rotates normally. If it is locked, remove the password first with our Unlock PDF tool, then bring the unlocked copy back here.

Why is my scanned PDF sideways?

Scanners and phone cameras often save pages sideways or upside down depending on how the paper was fed or how the phone was held. Rotating fixes the orientation so the document reads the right way up everywhere.

Is there a page or size limit?

No. There is no page cap, no file-size cap, and no paywall. Page thumbnails render only as you scroll, so even large scans stay smooth; a very big file on an old phone is the only thing that may slow it down.

Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark, no size limit. It works the same on phones, tablets, and computers in any modern browser.
