How to merge PDF files

  1. Drop your PDF files into the box above, or click it to browse and pick them. Add two or more.
  2. Drag the file cards into the order you want, or nudge one with the up and down arrows on its card, and remove any file you added by mistake with the bin icon.
  3. Click Merge PDF and your combined file downloads on its own as frisqoo_merged.pdf.

Everything runs locally in your browser. Frisqoo does not upload the source file, and the tool can keep working without internet once the page has loaded.

Is it safe to merge PDF files here?

Yes. Many free PDF sites upload your files to their own servers to do the work. This tool does not. Your PDFs are read and joined right inside your browser, so they are never uploaded, stored, or seen by anyone else. That makes it a widely compatible choice for contracts, bank statements, medical records, and anything else you would not want sitting on a stranger's server.

The browser still needs enough memory to hold the documents while it works. Files are released when you close or reload the page. The original PDFs stay in their folders unchanged, and the merged copy is created as a separate download.

How to reorder files before merging

After you add your files, each one shows up as a cover thumbnail of its first page, so you can distinguish them from their covers. Drag a card to move it earlier or later, or use the up and down arrows on the card, and tap the bin icon to drop one you added by mistake. Need to turn a file the right way up, or take out a page or two? Switch to page view to rotate or remove single pages first. The final PDF follows the order on screen, top to bottom, so put the file you want first at the top. You need at least two files before the Merge PDF button turns on.

Step 2: arrange whole files in file view, rotate one document, or remove a file before merging.

Files view keeps each source document together. Switch to Pages when you need to inspect every page across the set. In page view, the thumbnails follow the current file order, and each page can be rotated or removed before the output is built. Return to Files at any time to move a whole document as one unit.

Step 3: open page view to check, rotate, or remove individual pages from the combined sequence.

When the order looks right, tap Merge PDF. Pages are copied in the sequence shown and the finished document downloads as frisqoo_merged.pdf. A result panel keeps the generated file available for Download again and Share, with direct next steps for splitting, compression, organization, or password protection.

Step 4: download the merged PDF again, share it, or continue to another PDF tool.

Add and check files without restarting

The editor stays open while the document set is being prepared. Choose the Add PDF tile or the toolbar's add-files control to append another document. A PDF can also be dropped into the workspace. The new file enters the current sequence, so there is no need to close the editor or upload the earlier files again.

Each file card shows its first-page preview, filename, and page count. That makes it easier to distinguish several reports with similar names before moving them. Switch to Pages to confirm where one source ends and the next begins. The page thumbnails reveal blank sheets, sideways scans, and accidental duplicates that a cover-only view could hide.

Undo and redo are available for editing actions in the workbench. Use them after an unwanted move, rotation, removal, or view change instead of rebuilding the list. Adding more files does not alter the PDFs already stored on the device; it only updates the temporary sequence used for the new output.

If a source cannot be opened, the status identifies the skipped file while readable documents continue. A page that cannot be copied is also skipped rather than replacing the whole result with an error. Review the page count shown beside Merge PDF before downloading, especially when the source set contains damaged or unusually large documents.

Merging password-protected PDFs

When a PDF needs an open password, the file list pauses on an inline unlock box. Enter the known password and choose Unlock, or choose Skip this file to continue without it. The password is passed to the local PDF unlocker and is not uploaded or added to the merged file.

Password check: enter the file's known open password or skip that document.

After a successful unlock, the decrypted working copy appears beside the other file cards and can be reordered, rotated, or checked in page view. The downloaded merged PDF is not re-encrypted. Use Protect PDF afterward when the result should require a new password.

Unlocked protected PDF and a second document ready to merge in file view
Unlocked state: the protected document joins the normal file workflow inside the browser.

A PDF that opens normally but asks readers not to print or copy does not need an open password and may load without a prompt. A forgotten open password cannot be bypassed here; only files that can be opened or correctly unlocked can contribute pages.

Combine PDFs with JPG or PNG images

This tool joins PDF files, so images need one quick extra step. Turn your photos or scans into a PDF with JPG to PDF first, then add that new PDF alongside your other files and merge them all into one document. It is the easiest way to fold a signed photo, a receipt, or a scanned page into an existing PDF.

What is kept, and what is not

Merging copies your pages exactly, and the document-level extras travel with them. The details below show what survives the new document:

  • Every page, at full quality. Text stays sharp and selectable, and images keep their resolution.
  • Links to web addresses stay clickable.
  • The bookmark outline (the contents list in the sidebar). Each file's bookmarks sit under a heading named after that file.
  • Interactive form fields stay fillable, and anything already filled in is kept. If two files use the same field name, the second is renamed so the two cannot fill in together.
  • The title and author details, inherited from your first file.
  • Digital signatures. Copying pages into a new document breaks the seal, so signature fields are dropped rather than left behind unverifiable.

Bookmarks are remapped to the pages that survive the edit. When more than one source has bookmarks, each set sits under a top-level entry named after its file. Fillable fields are rebuilt from the kept pages; duplicate field names from different documents are renamed so typing in one does not change another.

The title, author, subject, and keywords come from the first file that contributes a page. Digital signatures are different from visible signature images: copying pages into a new PDF breaks the cryptographic seal, so signature fields are removed rather than presented as valid.

Why is my merged PDF so large?

A merged PDF is usually close to the combined size of its sources because pages are copied without downsampling their images or turning selectable text into pictures. Files with many photos, scans, or embedded fonts add up quickly. Shared resources from the same source are copied together to avoid needless duplication, but merging is not a compression step.

If the result is too large for email or a portal, finish the merge first and then open Compress PDF. On a memory-limited phone, merge fewer large scans at a time, close other heavy tabs, or use a desktop browser. The interface warns when a very large set may strain the device. Before sending the result, open it once and check the first page, last page, total page count, bookmark panel, and any fields that people still need to complete.

Merge whole files vs. rearranging pages

Merge PDF joins separate files into one. Files view is quickest when each source should stay intact: move, rotate, or remove a whole document from one card. Pages view is for a smaller correction before merging, such as deleting a blank sheet or turning one sideways page.

For heavier work inside a single document, such as rearranging dozens of pages or extracting a range into another file, use Split PDF, Organize PDF, or Rotate PDF. A practical sequence is to prepare each source, merge the cleaned documents, then protect or compress the finished copy.

Can I merge PDFs on my phone?

Yes. This tool works in current desktop and mobile browsers on iPhone, Android, tablets, and computers, with nothing to install. Add your files the same way, tap Merge PDF, and the combined file saves to your device.

Common ways people use Merge PDF

  • Combining a signed contract with its cover letter and appendix.
  • Joining separate scanned pages into one clean document.
  • Merging monthly invoices or receipts into a single file for expenses.
  • Building a portfolio or report from several exported PDFs.
  • Putting a form and its supporting documents together before sending.

FAQs about Merge PDF

Do my files get uploaded?

No. The merge happens inside your browser on your own device. Your files never leave your computer or phone, and nothing is stored. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.

Is there a file-count or size limit?

There is no fixed file-count or file-size cap. The practical limit is the memory available to your browser, because every source file is opened on your device. Several photo-heavy scans may be comfortable on a desktop but too much for an older phone.

Will merging lower the quality of my PDFs?

No. Every page is copied exactly as it is. Text stays sharp and selectable, and images keep their original resolution, because the files are joined without being squeezed or re-saved.

What order will the merged PDF be in?

The files join top to bottom in the order shown on screen, so whatever sits at the top comes first. Drag the cards, or use the up and down arrows on each card, to change the order before you tap Merge PDF.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Yes. If a file needs a password just to open it, frisqoo asks for that password right here, unlocks the file on your device, and carries on with the merge. Your password is used in your browser and never leaves your device. Files that only restrict printing or copying merge with no prompt at all. The one thing no tool can do is recover a password you do not know.

Does it keep bookmarks, form fields, and links?

Yes. Web links stay clickable, bookmarks are remapped to the pages that remain, and fillable form fields stay interactive. Duplicate field names are separated between source files. Digital signature fields are dropped because copying pages breaks their cryptographic seal.

Can I combine PDFs with JPG or PNG images?

Not in one step here, because this tool joins PDF files. Turn your pictures into a PDF first with JPG to PDF, then add that PDF along with your others and merge them together.

Can I work with single pages, or only whole files?

You can do both. Files view merges whole files in the order you set. Switch to page view to rotate, reorder, or remove single pages before you merge. For bigger page changes on one document, Organize PDF and Split PDF give you more room to work.

Does it work offline?

Yes, once the page has loaded. Because the merge runs on your device and not on a server, you can switch off your internet and it still works. Frisqoo does not upload the source files for processing.

Will my original PDFs be changed?

No. Reordering, rotating, removing pages, and merging happen in a new working document. The source files in your folder stay untouched.

What is the merged file called?

The completed document downloads as frisqoo_merged.pdf. The result panel also lets you download it again, share it, or continue to Split PDF, Compress PDF, Organize PDF, or Protect PDF.

Why do I need at least two files?

Merge PDF is designed to combine separate documents, so its main action starts with two files. To change pages inside one PDF, use page view here after adding another document, or open Organize PDF for a single-file workflow.

Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark, and no upload or file-count limits. The practical cap is your device memory because the work runs locally. It works on phones, tablets, and computers in a modern browser.
